A 49-year-old pharmacist has been in the sights of the Saint Pierre Anti-Drug and Smuggling Unit (Adsu) since information was obtained that she was involved in illicit activities. On the evening of Tuesday December 12, her pharmacy in Pointe aux Sables was raided. The information turned out to be true. A plastic vial containing a brown liquid was found in the blind. It is suspected of being a synthetic drug. Pharmacist Preeya Dassaye, née Matadeen, was arrested. A provisional charge of drug trafficking has been brought against him. She is suspected of being involved in the distribution of this drug. A search of her home in Vinson Lane, Moka yielded nothing. Shortly afterwards, the woman’s son, Kantish Dassaye, 25, was apprehended in the Bell Village area, in possession of 100 ml of the same drug in a metal container in his car. The drug seized is estimated at Rs 10 million.

It was after hours of surveillance that they decided to search the pharmacy of this pharmacist in Pointe aux Sables. During this search, they found a plastic bottle with a pink cap. It contained a certain quantity of liquid, 200 ml, suspected of being a synthetic drug.
Preeya Dassyne was presented with this evidence before being arrested. She was subsequently taken to the Pailles police station. At the end of the afternoon Kantish Dasaye was arrested in Bell Village. This after 100 ml of the synthetic drug was found in a pint in his black Mercedes car. Mother and son were placed in cells at the Moka detention center.
On Wednesday morning, December 13, they were brought before the southern division court of Port Louis before being taken back to a police cell.
