Padayachy/Sadien Meeting: PRB To Be Paid In 2022

Must Read

The release of the next Pay Research Bureau (PRB) report was the subject of discussions yesterday between Finance Minister Rengananden Padayachy and leaders of the State and Other Employees Federation (SEOF).

During the meeting, the Finance Minister clarified his statement about the implementation of the next report. He insisted that the next report will be paid from January 2020. However, he did not want to make a commitment as to when the report will be effective.

He said that the date on which the report will be effective is rather up to the PRB. The SEOF minister insisted that the government must keep its promises regarding the implementation of the PRB report from January 2020. He recalled that since the release of the forthcoming report was delayed, an allowance of Rs 1,000 was given to civil servants, for him, the report must be implemented with retroactive effect from January 2020.

Talking about the recruitment in the civil service, he asked the Chief Financial Officer to use his power to return the delegated powers of the PSC to the ministry. The delay in the recruitment of civil servants is unprecedented, he said. He recalled that for the year 2020-2021, only 30% of the vacancies have been filled.
