Motorcyclist Dies From Injuries

Ajagen Mookien, a 40 year old motorcyclist, also known as Ajagen Kisnen, did not survive his injuries sustained on Monday evening, January 31. The resident of Dagotière died in the surgical intensive care unit of the Dr. A.G. Jeeoo Hospital in Port-Louis on the evening of Thursday, February 3.

As a reminder, at approximately 7:35 p.m. on Monday, January 31, the Moka police station was alerted to an accident that occurred in Gentily. The motorcycle of the Suzuki brand of this forty-year-old had collided with a car of the Nissan brand at the junction of the road Gentily, Moka near the traffic lights. The driver of the gray car is an accountant of 36 years and living in Triolet.

The collision occurred when the car, coming from St. Peter, turned right to enter Gentily Branch Road and the motorcycle, coming in the opposite direction, was driving towards St. Peter. The motorcycle struck the front of the car. The motorcyclist was evacuated to the Dr. Jeetoo Hospital in an ambulance from the Emergency Medical Service (EMS) with serious injuries. After first aid was administered to Ajagen Mookien, he was later admitted to the intensive care unit.

The 40 year old died from his injuries at approximately 9:40 p.m. on Thursday evening, February 3.

The autopsy performed by Dr. Maxwell Monvoisin, Principal Police Medical Officer during the day on Friday, February 4, attributed his death to a skull fracture.

Funeral services for Ajagen Mookien were held at 3 p.m. on Friday, February 4. He was cremated at Circumstances Saint Pierre.
