While declaring himself proud that the country has finally left the gray list of the Financial Action Task Force (FATF), Pravind Jugnauth, the Mauritian Prime Minister reiterated the commitment of his government to combat money laundering and terrorist financing.
In his speech broadcast on MBC on Thursday, October 21, minutes after the FATF decision, Pravind Jugnauth said that the Mauritian government has continuously demonstrated its unwavering commitment to implement the FATF action plan over the past 18 months. Also ensuring the sustainability and effectiveness of the measures undertaken.
The Prime Minister also reiterated the willingness of the government to support the reforms to fight against money laundering and terrorist financing. He stressed that the government’s concern is to maintain the momentum. Mauritius is committed to taking bold steps that are necessary to protect the integrity of its financial system, including the global commercial sector, continued Pravind Jugnauth.
According to him, it is a collective effort on the part of international and national institutions to achieve such an outcome as quickly as this.
