Must Read

Magistrate Vidya Mungroo-Jugurnath has reserved her report. Dr Satish Boolell was the last witness to testify in the judicial enquiry. The former head of the police forensic department and who is now a consultant in forensic medicine, stated that, according to his analysis, the death of Soopramanien Kistnen is a case of homicide by asphyxiation. In his view, the MSM agent was “strangled, perhaps even suffocated“. He also said that the cane field is not the scene of the crime. According to him, Kistnen died elsewhere and was taken to Telfair.

This is what Dr Satish Boolell said this morning in Moka District Court where the judicial enquiry into the murder of Soopramanien Kistnen is being held. Dr Satish Boolell, in his testimony, stated that it was an orange substance that was responsible for the death of Soopramanien Kistnen, which the victim had consumed. Dr Satish Boolell confirmed that, after his analysis, he found that Soopramanien Kistnen died on 16 October.

During his second day in court in Moka, he spoke at length about the contents of the victim’s stomach found during the post-mortem examination and also about the presence of fly eggs on a photograph of the corpse taken by the police. He explained that green or blue flies like the openings that let out body fluid and lay eggs at dusk. He said that if the body was found on 18 October 2020 at 6pm, the death must have occurred about 17 hours earlier.
