Must Read

An importer of canned goods, living in Beau-Bassin, has reported the theft of three hundred and ninety-five cans of tuna from a container in front of his warehouse in Baie du Tombeau. He estimates the value of the theft at Rs 600,000.  In this container, there were also cans of sardines, salmon, mushrooms and corn kernels.  He said the original seal had been replaced. Only after a complete inventory, he will give a statement about other cans that were stolen.

In his complaint to the Baie du Tombeau police station, the 63-year-old importer stated that the container arrived at the port on Friday 3 September. It was not until Tuesday, September 7, that he took delivery of it at his warehouse in Swan Morcellement, Baie du Tombeau. According to him, the theft was committed between 4pm on Tuesday 7 September and noon on Wednesday 8 September.

The Criminal Investigation Division of the Metropolitan Police Northern Division has initiated an investigation into the matter. They are working with elements of the Field Intelligence Office of this division to trace the perpetrators of this theft.
