Roseby Latona, 63 the director of the “Mama Rose” crèche, located in Allée Brillant, Castel was ticketed on Monday October 23 for operating a crèche without a registration certificate contrary to the Children’ act 2020.
Based on information that this crèche was operating illegally, an officer from the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family Welfare raided the “Mama Rose” crèche at around 11.30am on Monday October 23.
The director was informed of the purpose of the visit. In her presence, the premises were inspected. This exercise enabled the officer to find four children aged between 3 months and 2 years in the crèche. They were under the sole responsibility of the director.
She was informed that her crèche was operating without a permit, to which she replied that she would take steps to obtain a registration certificate.
Since the death of 3-month-old Grace Marie Yanaella Cadapen at the Princess Barbie crèche in Stanley, Rose Hill, on October 2, officers from the Ministry of Gender Equality have been making surprise visits to crèches.
To date, over one hundred and thirty raids have been carried out.
