Hurreeram On Election Petition: A Major Slap In The Face Of The Opposition

Ministers Bobby Hurreeram and Sudhir Maudhoo also held a press conference on Saturday. The two ministers began by giving an overview of their respective ministries. Referring to development projects in the country, Bobby Hurreeram said that the government is preparing Mauritius for the next 100 years.

Fisheries Minister Sudheer Maudoo spoke of his intention to take legal action against the former chairman of the Mauritius Shipping Corporation, Dr Sudesh Lalchand. He said that criminal proceedings might be considered in relation to his bonus performance of Rs 3 million as there is a possibility that he might be called upon to repay the amount, said Minister Sudheer Maudhoo.

Speaking about Agalega, he had to point out that the ship Trochetia has already returned to the country and the ship might undertake a voyage towards the end of the month to the island.  For the time being, it cannot make the trip to the island because of health protocol, the minister said. He also announced that the fishermen, who could not fish during the period of ban on fishing due to the oil spill in the lagoon by the Wakhasio, will be given an additional compensation of Rs 134,000.
