A 23 year old youth, living in the Plaine-Verte area, savagely attacked his 57 year old father on the neck in the parking areas of the ambulances of the Emergency Medical Service (SAMU) of the Dr. A.G. Hospital. Jeetoo, Port-Louis in the early hours of Sunday morning, May 8. Questioned shortly afterwards by police officers stationed at this hospital about the reason for his act, he declared, “monn tann enn lavoi dir mwa to bizin avoy li manze”. The young man has since been admitted to the psychiatric hospital of the Brown Sequard Hospital in Beau-Bassin. The 50-year-old succumbed to his injuries on the morning of Thursday, May 19.
This tragedy occurred around 3:50 am on Sunday, May 8. Father and son were in the parking areas of the ambulances of the EMS of the Dr Jeetoo hospital and there would be an argument between them. The young man was to inflict a violent kick to his father’s neck. The father was seriously injured and admitted to the intensive care unit of this hospital. His condition was deemed to be serious.
Meanwhile, his son, who was arrested by police officers stationed at the hospital, was questioned about the motivation for his action. Without hesitation, he had to say that “monn tann enn lavoi dir mwa to bizin avoy li manze”. The young man, who was examined by a psychiatrist and the police superintendent, was admitted to the Brown Sequard Psychiatric Hospital where he remains today.
His father succumbed to his injuries on Thursday, May 19, at 6 a.m. That same day, an autopsy was performed by Dr. Maxwell Monvoisin and Dr. Prem Chamane, Principal Police Medical Officers, who attributed the cause of death to cerebral edema.
Investigators from the Central Barracks Police Station are awaiting a medical report from Brown Sequard Hospital physicians on this suspect to continue this investigation.
