Covid 19: 85 Positive Cases In Targeted Screenings

The Department of Health and Welfare laboratories have completed testing of 1,754 PCR tests as of 6:30 p.m. Wednesday afternoon.

  • 6 cases were detected through ongoing Contact Tracing exercises.
  • 1 case was detected as a result of routine testing on admission to a care unit.
  • 18 cases have been detected in COVID-19 Testing Centres.
  • 1 case was detected following a test performed in a private clinic. This test was subsequently confirmed by the Central Health Laboratory.

Contact Tracing teams from the Department of Health and Welfare also conducted targeted testing in 2 dormitories.

These buildings are under strict health surveillance and operate as quarantine centers to isolate residents from the local community.

Targeted screening exercises have detected 85 positive cases.

The residents of the 2 dormitories are all vaccinated against COVID-19. Those tested positive are completely asymptomatic.

2,590 people have contracted COVID-19 since March 5, and 1,336 of them have returned to their homes as cured.

To date, the country has 1,232 active cases of COVID-19.
