Bricklayer Arrested With Rs 5 Million Of Hashish

A raid by police officers of the Anti-Drug and Smuggling Unit (Adsu) of the Central Division in Carreau Laliane, Vacoas during the day of Thursday, March 30, led to the arrest of Ajay Kumarsing Sunsar. The latter a 42-year-old bricklayer was found in possession of a transparent resealable plastic containing a red and white aluminum foil with the inscription Organic Espresso Peru in which there was one thousand grams of hashish. The value of this drug is estimated at Rs 5 million. The police also found a sum of Rs 10 000 suspected to come from the sale of this drug.

It is on the basis of certain information that this individual would be engaged in illicit activities that this team of Adsu, led by sergeant Gokhool carried out a raid at his residence. These policemen were indeed to find a parcel in which there was a brownish substance, suspected to be cannabis resin, even hashish.

Ajay Sunsar was taken to the Adsu office in Port-Louis where the seized drug was sealed and kept as evidence. This Thursday morning, March 31, he was brought before the court of Curepipe, under a provisional charge of drug trafficking.

On the other hand, on the same day, around 3:00 pm, an undercover operation led by the men of the inspectors, Rajeev Subba Reddi and Harry Appasamy l’Adsu of Rose-Belle in a parking lot adjacent to the commercial complex of Ruisseau Creole in La Preneuse allowed the arrest of Jean Bradley George, a 21 year old gardener and resident of Barachois Petite-Rivière. This after he offered to sell drugs to police officers. The latter seized four hundred and fifty-seven grams of cannabis, worth Rs 685,500. Two other suspects who came with him managed to flee in a grey-black Mitsubishi car after hitting the back of an Adsu vehicle.

Bradley George was presented before the court of Bambous, this Thursday, March 31.  A charge of drug trafficking for being in possession of drugs for sale. Adsu is actively looking for these two men through the images of the surveillance cameras of Safe City.
