In their protests, the inhabitants stated that given the proximity of the cemetery to their houses, they fear for their health. The human blockade and the attack of stones have certainly pushed back the health authorities and employees of the cemetery but the intervention of the police calmed things down. The burial took place under the angry gazes of the inhabitants. They are demanding a meeting with the President of the District Council and the MPs of the Pamplemousses constituency.

The country is currently recording three deaths due to Covid-19. The Ministry of Health announced on Wednesday 8th September, the census of 204 active cases, including 3 admitted to the New ENT Hospital.
