Trianon: 400 Foreign Workers End Their Strike

The 400 Bangladeshi, Indian and Malagasy workers of Beijing Construction Engineering Group (Mauritius) Co Ltd in Trianon have ended the third day of their strike for delay in the payment of their salaries and year-end bonus.

They ended their strike following the signing of an agreement between the director of BCEG, Cao Jinkui and the Construction Metal, Wooden and Related Industries Employees Union, which represents the interests of workers. The agreement states that their year-end bonus will be paid from January 6 and management is committed to paying the employees’ salary according to the date prescribed by law. These workers’ vacation and sick leave will also be reimbursed. Management has also agreed to return the passports of its employees. It also agreed to provide better quality food to the employees.

400 Foreign Workers End Their Strike in Trianon

After the signing of the agreement, the General Secretary of the Confederation of Public and Private Sector Workers, Jane Raggoo, said she was pleased that common sense had prevailed. It should be noted that a meeting following the promises made by the management will be held every two months.
