Residential Horror House, Burrenchobay, Plaine-Magnien

Must Read

Flies were coming out of a kitchen transom. A door was forced open and a foul smell was coming from this house. Inside, there were dog droppings all over the floor. Bones and a skull were scattered in a bedroom and in the hallway. A dog was on the bed and another under the bed. This house was occupied by a 75 year old man in Burrenchobay Residence, Plaine-Magnien. The septuagenarian, who lived alone, had not been seen for about a week. Father of two children, he was not on good terms with them. Dr. Maxwell Monvoisin, Principal Police Medical Officer, who examined the human remains, was unable to determine the cause of death.

It was one of the victim’s neighbors who alerted the police. For the past week, he had not seen his neighbor and could only hear the barking of his dogs inside the house. On Wednesday, January 12, he decided to alert the Plaine-Magnien police station. It was noon that day when a team of police officers, led by Sergeant Soobanah, raided the place.

The septuagenarian had been a widower for years and lived alone. The police began to inspect the area around the house. Flies were coming out of a kitchen transom. As they peered inside, they would see bones in the hallway near that kitchen. A back door of the house was forced open so that the police could gain access.

A foul odor was coming from inside. Dog poop was everywhere. The sergeant was to discover bones and a possibly human skull scattered throughout the bedroom and hallway of this house. A dog was standing on a bed and another one was under the bed.  Police were able to make contact with the victim’s daughter, who lives in Trois Boutiques.

These human remains were transported to the Victoria Hospital Candos morgue for examination early Wednesday evening, January 12. Dr. Monvoisin could not comment on the cause of death. Evidence was sent to the Forensic Science Laboratory in Reduit for analysis.

Officers from the veterinary section of the Ministry of Agro-Industry, police officers from the Criminal Investigation Division and those from the Field Intelligence Office went to the scene.

In other news, a young welder, 23 years old and living in Plaisance, Rose-Hill, made the macabre discovery of his 67 year old father’s body in a state of advanced decomposition in his bed in Bassin, Quatre-Bornes Wednesday morning. The last time he had spoken to his father, he confided to the police, was on Saturday, January 8.

It was after being alerted by his aunt, who lives on the ground floor of the house where his father lived, that he went to Bassin, Quatre-Bornes. While climbing the stairs, a stench came from above, he told the police. When he opened the door and entered the house, he saw his father’s decomposing body on his bed. He insisted that his father was suffering from several diseases. The autopsy attributed his death to heart failure.
