In view of the renewal of the Mauritius National Identity Card System, the Government Information Service is informing the public that the National Identity Card Centres will be temporarily closed from 27 January to 18 February in Mauritius and Rodrigues. Following this measure, the last day to apply for a new identity card, under the current system, was this Friday.
The last day for the collection of identity cards is 31 January. The Mauritius National Identity Card Unit is in possession of a number of identity cards that have not been collected by those who have applied for them. These people have until 31 January to collect them from the centres in Port-Louis, Rose-Hill and Flacq in Mauritius and Port-Mathurin in Rodrigues.
Operations will resume as normal on 19 February at all National Identity Card Centres.
