The Racecards are allegedly owned by the Mauritius Turf Club and the MTC Sports and Leisure Ltd. With this argument, the MTC/ MTCSL have filed a complaint in the Supreme Court to contest the fact that it is the Gambling Regulatory Authority and the Horse Racing Division that are communicating on the Racecards for this first day of racing on Saturday, April 23rd.
A complaint has been lodged against the Horse Racing Division, the Gambling Regulatory Authority and the State for appropriation of property, intellectual property on products related to the organization of races.
The Mauritius Turf Club claims damages of more than Rs 7 billion from the State.
The Turf Club, stresses that its rights as organizer since 1812 were expropriated after the establishment of the Horse Racing Division under the aegis of the GRA.
However, this complaint could not delay the first day of racing.
Trainers and stables have already submitted the names of their horses in the eight races that will be run on the opening day.
This is a great opportunity for horse lovers to make their predictions, especially after the uncertainties of the last few months. The races will be held behind closed doors while waiting for the relaxation of the sanitary measures still in force in this period of pandemic.
