He Suspects His Son Of Stealing Rs 600,000 Worth Of Jewelry

A 58-year-old beach vendor gave a statement at the Triolet police station reporting a case of theft of gold jewelry from his home. The jewelry worth Rs 600 000 was wrapped in a piece of cloth and placed under a mattress in his room. He insisted that there was no break-in. He said he suspects his 27-year-old son to be the author of this theft. The latter was questioned by the Criminal Investigation Division (CID) of Trou-aux-Biches during the day of Thursday April 21. He denied the facts that he was accused of. He was allowed to leave.

In his complaint, the beach vendor stated that the robbery was committed around 9:00 pm on Sunday, April 10 and 9:30 pm on Wednesday, April 20. These jewels were kept in his room under the mattress of his bed. They were wrapped in a purple cloth and placed behind a drawer.

The stolen jewelry consists of seven chains, four diamond rings, two rings, a pair of earrings and four bracelets commonly called “batana”. He said he could recognize these jewels. He told the police that he suspects his son, a 27-year-old painter, to be the author of this theft. The latter was questioned for a long time by police officers of the CID, but he denied to be involved in this case.  He was allowed to leave. The CID continues its investigation.
