Fifty-Year-Old Killed In Quatre Bornes

A burglary turned tragic at Dookhun Morcellement, Four Corners, on Tuesday 26 October. The body of Sabilla Bannoo Taroo, born Surroop, 55, was discovered by her husband and son. The latter went to her place of work because they were worried about her prolonged absence. Sabilla Taroo was working as a maid. The Belle-Rose resident was cleaning the house three days a week in the absence of her boss, who is currently in Canada.

It was around 8pm on the evening of Tuesday 26 October when a request was made to the Quatre-Bornes police station. A team of police officers, led by Sergeant Deepoo, went to the scene after the victim’s husband and son made a gruesome discovery. Sabilla Taroo was lying on the ground with a neck wound. She also had injuries to her face and head.

An ambulance from the Emergency Medical Service (SAMU) was called to the scene. Unfortunately, the doctor on board was only able to confirm the death of the 50-year-old. The body was then transported to the morgue of the Victoria Hospital, Candos for an autopsy on Wednesday morning, 27 October, by Dr Prem Chamane, Principal Police Medical Officer.

Elements of the Criminal Investigation Division of Quatre Bornes, forensic technicians went to Dookhun Morcellement where the woman’s body was found. A sniffer dog was also taken to the address in order to lead investigators to a lead.

An investigation has been initiated to trace the perpetrators of this murder.
