It is recalled that the acquisition of land lies under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Housing and Land Use Planning, which will undertake a land exchange process for the relocation of the five families.

The infrastructure works will be carried out by Transinvest Construction Ltd and are expected to be completed by mid-December 2021, and thereafter, this will allow the residents to build their houses.

On the other hand, the land of five other families, will be acquired by the State and they will decide on their own accord where they wish to be relocated.

These families are being relocated following the conduct of several technical studies and discussions with stakeholders including the Ministry of Housing and Land Use Planning, the Ministry of Land Transport and Light Rail, the Municipality of Vacoas/Phoenix, the Mauritius Police Force and consultations with the concerned residents.

Moreover, access problems during and after the implementation of the Metro Express project were identified in Sadally due to the proximity of the houses to the Metro alignment.  It is noted that no crossing would be allowed on this section.

The parcelling of the State land was accomplished by the Ministry of Housing and Land Use Planning.
