For a few strands of sunshine is the first collection of poetry by Neekeea Ramen. At least in solo. Published by Pantheon Editions in France, the work tends towards philosophy and the quest for light… After France in January 2022, the collection will be officially launched on May 25 at the Henessy Park – Ebène hotel.
Banker, Neekeea has always loved words. His time at Barlen Pyamootoo’s writing workshop attests to this passion. So does the Édouard Maunick poetry prize he won in 2020-2021.
For his first solo collection, the poet let his pen wander on the shores of his journey and not only … The collection gathers about forty poems that speak of my experience, some are more philosophical while others evoke the quest for light, hence the title of the book.
In terms of projects, he would like to write a novel and a play: “Writing a novel tempts me. But, in the near future, I see myself writing a play. In between, there will definitely be more poetry collections.”
As a reminder, Neekeea Ramen has in 2018, translated from Tamil into Mauritian Creole Tirukural. The translation was done jointly with Kavinien Karupudayyan.
