A 22-year-old University of Mauritius (UOM) student has been placed on life-support following a fall from the roof of her home in the morning. This followed a fall from the roof of her house on the morning of Friday October 21 in the village of La Rose. She fell from the first-floor roof of her house onto the asphalt on the road in front of her house. She was rushed to Jawaharlall Nehru Hospital in Rose Belle where, after receiving treatment, she was admitted to an intensive care unit ward and would be placed on artificial respiration.
A team of police officers went to her address after being informed of the accident. In the meantime, staff from the Service d’Aide Médicale d’Urgence (Samu), who were on site, administered first aid to the victim. She was immediately evacuated to Rose Belle hospital. The young woman was admitted to an intensive care unit and placed on artificial respiration.
At the time of the fall, the victim’s father was at home. When the young student was discovered, she was lying on the asphalt with a head wound that was bleeding profusely. An investigation has been launched at the Rose Belle police station to shed light on the exact circumstances of the fall.
