A 16-year-old teenager returning home to Vacoas after school on Monday afternoon, February 26, was accosted by two individuals. The two men identified themselves as police officers from the Anti-Drug and Smuggling Unit (AdSU) and said they were going to search him, as they suspected he was in possession of dangerous drugs. While one of them was searching the pocket of his shorts, the second, who was looking in his bag, came across a Rs 200 denomination which he took. The latter then hit him on the back of the head with a rattan, saying, “m… nou pou montre twa ki appel l’Adsu zordi”. The two men then left.
It was on the evening of Monday February 26 that this grade 10 student, accompanied by his father, went to the Vacoas police station to report a case of robbery with violence. In great detail, he recounted the circumstances in which he came across these two men while walking along the Père Laval promenade on his way home.
The young resident of Clairfond NO 1, Vacoas was not injured, but said he felt pain in the back of his head. He was taken to Victoria Hospital, Candos for treatment.
The Criminal Investigation Division has been asked to trace the two thugs.
