The Labour Party Will Hold Its Rally In St Pierre On November 18

The Labour Party will hold a big rally in constituency number 8 on November 18. It will start at 5.30pm at Mohit Hall in St Pierre. The news was announced by the leader, Navin Ramgoolam, at a press conference after the political bureau meeting this afternoon. He added that it’s the Labour initiative, but everyone is invited. He also announced that he will pursue discussions with the other leaders of the Opposition and will meet with Paul Bérenger and Xavier-Luc Duval this Monday. On the economic front, Navin Ramgoolam said that the country “is heading towards another economic crisis“. He expressed his disagreement with the Bank of Mauritius’ forecasts. The Monetary Policy Committee raised the Repo Rate by 100 basis points to 4%.  The Bank of Mauritius also announced that it expects inflation to vary between 5% and 6% in 2023 while it estimates that growth will be above 7% in 2022 and 5% in 2023. For Navin Ramgoolam, there will be no drop in inflation. All products are on the rise. In addition, the leader of the Reds returned to the importance of lowering the price of diesel and petrol.
