The Constance Academy Celebrates 10 years of Its BRIGHT Training Program

Must Read

Some 600 employees of the Constance Hotels, Resorts & Golf Group have benefited to date from its BRIGHT training program. The BRIGHT – BRIdging the Gap Through Holistic Training program, launched in 2011 by the Constance Academy, has enabled the hotel group to train leaders at various levels in its properties in Mauritius and abroad. Spread over a period of 10 to 12 months, the BRIGHT program courses are open to all staff of the Constance Hotels, Resorts & Golf Group. The training, which consists of two levels (Supervisor Development Programme and Manager Development Programme), is approved by the Human Resource Development Council (HRDC).

To mark its tenth anniversary, this training program has been updated to reflect the new challenges facing the tourism industry, and the hotel industry in particular. The objective is to help teams better adapt to the changes underway and prepare for the demands of the industry. In addition, a third level of training is currently being prepared and should soon be offered to teams.

“We are very proud to celebrate ten years of this leadership development program, whose main objective is to support the evolution of our employees throughout their careers,” says Vishal Roopun, Head of Constance Academy, Constance Hospitality Training Centre.

Over the past ten years, this training has enabled several employees who have taken this course to be promoted and thus assume positions of responsibility within the hotel group. In fact, it won an award at the Maldives HR Awards 2018, in the “Excellence in Developing Leaders of Tomorrow” category.

It should be noted that a generic version of this training is offered by Constance Academy to other companies. This allows the courses to be tailored to the needs of these companies and their employees. Since the BRIGHT program is recognized by the HRDC, companies are eligible for a grant that covers a portion of the costs incurred.

By promoting a competency-based approach, the courses can be adapted to the participants and their needs. To complete the training, participants must design and implement a project, the results of which are then presented to a panel of judges for evaluation.
