A resident of Saint Joseph, Terre Rouge was fined Rs 3000 in Pamplemousses court on Monday morning, April 29. This relates to a case of theft of sheet metal from a policeman.
The case dates back to the evening of September 20, 2023, when a 44-year-old policeman living in Morcellement Greenpark, Terre Rouge, went to the local police station to report a case of sheet metal theft in his backyard. The theft had been committed from his second home on Route Royale, Saint Joseph, Terre-Rouge.
This police officer was assigned to the Emergency Response Service of the Metropolitan Police, Northern Division. The robbery took place at around 11 a.m. on April 20.
On Monday afternoon, men from Piton’s Criminal Investigation Division arrested Marie Gianna Natacha Karine Dhunputh, aged 39, who lives on Route Royale, Saint Joseph, Terre Rouge, and subjected her to intensive questioning. However, the stolen goods were not recovered.
On Tuesday April 30, she was brought before the court. The trial took place on the same day. The suspect was fined Rs 3000, on a charge of theft.
