A 16-year-old schoolgirl was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the North Hospital late Thursday afternoon, September 15. This is after she was found unconscious on the pavement of Old Market Road in Riviere du Rempart. After the Safe City surveillance cameras were viewed, she was seen a short distance behind a group of five friends, including three boys. She was being carried on the shoulders of two boys. The schoolgirl’s condition is considered to be of concern.
It was during a police patrol that this 16-year-old schoolgirl from the village of Cottage was seen lying on the pavement at around 5.15pm on Thursday 15 September. The teenager was lying on the pavement in Old Mark Road. She was immediately taken to the local health centre for treatment before being transferred to the North Hospital. She was subsequently placed in the ICU ward. Her condition is considered quite serious.
An investigation has been initiated at the Rivière du Rempart police station to shed light on the circumstances in which this schoolgirl ended up in this state and lying on the pavement. A teenager who was with her was questioned.
