Alshibaa will be back on track after just over a month and a defeat in the Maiden Cup (2400m – G1). Ricky Maingard’s champion will be at the start of the 365 Presidents’ Cup (Gr2), a race that will be run over the distance of 2100m on Sunday. He will have to fear Holy Warrior and Consul Of War.
Alshibaa was dissapointing in his quest of a third win in the Maiden Cup. He finished far behind Twist Of Fate. A race that deserves to be forgotten, because he was coughing after his race and had had small superficial injuries. He had enough time to recover, and he did well during training.
The son of Street Cry and Asheerah will have a good chance of winning with his good line, but especially with South African jockey Bernard Fayd’herbe, who knows him well, on board.
Holy Warrior will be his main challenger. Winner in his last race, the Ramapatee Gujadhur-trained horse is an authentic stayer who will carry a reasonable weight on his back. He is close to his best form. He can try to win from pillar to post.
Consul Of War did very well in the Maiden, finishing third, 4 lengths behind the winner. It will not be surprising if he wins this race. But he will have to be at his best.
Spring Man will be a good outsider. His last win was over 2100m in 2021. Ricky Maingard won the main race of Saturday with a big outsider, Fools Gold. He can do it again with Spring Man who will be ridden by Geerish Goomany. The same jockey who rode Fools Gold.
