Two exits, two defeats. Mauritius is out of the COSAFA Cup 2022, which is currently being played in South Africa. After the 0-3 defeat against Eswatini last Wednesday, Club M suffered a new defeat this Friday, July 8 in this competition against Lesotho on the score of 2-1.
Lesotho opened the score in the 10th minute of play with a goal by Tumelo Makha. Then, Gordy Prosper equalized for Mauritius in the 50th minute of play. But at the Jane Thabantso (72nd) gave back the advantage to his team.
Mauritius is thus in the last place of the group B while Lesotho takes alone the leader’s seat with two victories in as many outings. The other match in this group ended with the score of 1-1 between Malawi and Eswatini.
The last game of Club M in this group phase is scheduled for this Sunday, July 10 against Malawi at 19h.
