Chandra Prakashsingh Dip, the son of Police Commissioner Anil Kumar Dip, appeared before the Financial Crimes Division of the Intermediate Court on Monday after a stay in Dubai for medical reasons.
He had been given permission by Magistrate Neeshal Jugnauth on 27 July to travel to Dubai from 3 to 12 August.
Chandra Prakashsingh Dip is being prosecuted, along with three other alleged accomplices (Dharmendra Mulloo, Sheikh Mohamed Khadafi Jany and Muhammad Irfaan Hausmuddy) for the embezzlement and laundering of Rs 80 million from the defunct Bramer Banking Corporation.
The trial against the accused resumed that day.
