Bilateral Cooperation Between Mauritius And Iran

Maneesh Gobin, Minister of Agro-Industry and Food Security, received on Monday morning, Mons. Ali Bakhshi, Head of the Diplomatic Mission of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Antananarivo, as part of a working visit on bilateral cooperation between Mauritius and Iran.

They discussed several topics of cooperation, including agriculture, livestock and food security.

It should be noted that Iran is also a country producing fertilizers. Thus, the draft of a memorandum of understanding between the Ministry of Agribusiness in Mauritius and its Iranian counterpart was discussed.

A draft memorandum of understanding on extradition was also discussed with the Attorney General’s Office.

Mons. Ali Bakhshi also expressed his wish to further develop bilateral relations between Iran and Mauritius.

The possibility to sign an agreement to facilitate exchanges between Iran and Mauritius was at the fore of discussions during a courtesy call, on Monday afternoon, by the Chargé d’Affaires of Iran, Mr Hassan Ali Bakhshi, on the Vice-Prime Minister and Minister of Education, Tertiary Education, Science and Technology, Mrs Leela Devi Dookun-Luchoomun, at the seat of the Ministry in Phoenix.

In a statement, Mr Bakshi pointed out that discussions with the Vice-Prime Minister focused on opportunities of cooperation in the educational sector between both countries.

The possibilities for Iranians to come to Mauritius for studies and the opportunities for bilingual educational programmes in Mauritius were brought forth during discussions, he stated.

Propositions pertaining to Iranian scholarships in different fields and trainings were also highlighted by the Chargé d’Affaires at the meeting.
