A 22-year-old motorcyclist was seriously injured after his Pulsar motorbike collided head-on with a school van at the corner of avenues Pirahanas and Arianne in Camp Levieux, Rose Hill shortly after midday on Wednesday 10 April. A 16-year-old teenager, who was riding as a rear passenger, was injured. The motorcyclist, who lives in Stanley, Rose-Hill, is in a serious condition and has been admitted to the Chest Intensive Care Unit at the Victoria Hospital in Candos.
The accident occurred at around 12.17pm on Wednesday 10 April. The school van and motorbike, coming from Roches Brunes, were travelling towards Camp Levieux. At one point, the driver of the school van, aged 61 and living in Plaisance, Rose Hill, put on his indicator to turn into Avenue Pirahanas and at the same time, the motorcyclist, who tried to overtake him, hit him head-on. The motorcyclist and his passenger were left on the asphalt.
Camp Levieux police station was alerted and a team was quickly dispatched to the scene. They immediately transported the motorcyclist to Candos hospital, while the passenger in the crouch was attended to by a volunteer. The rump passenger, a resident of Plaisance, Rose Hill, was admitted to the ward.
The driver of the school van and the motorcyclist were breathalysed and tested negative. Both vehicles were taken to the police station for examination.
