A statement of rape was taken at the Baie du Tombeau police station by a policewoman on behalf of a 48-year-old mentally handicapped woman. She explained that while she was asleep on the evening of Thursday August 24, her nephew broke into her room and sexually abused her. The suspect is still wanted.
This rape report was recorded by a policewoman at around 3pm. The victim, who lives in this coastal village, told the policewoman in great detail how on Thursday evening her nephew, who lives at the same address, sexually abused her.
The 40-year-old suspect grabbed her by force on her bed before removing her clothes and those she was wearing to satisfy his sexual urge. At around 1 p.m. on the same day, she was taken to Dr A.G. Jeetoo Hospital, Port-Louis, for treatment. After being examined by a gynecologist, she was admitted to the ward where the protocol for victims of sexual abuse was put in place.
The woman is undergoing psychiatric treatment at the Hôpital du Nord and the Brown Sequard Hospital in Beau Bassin.
