It is with sadness that the Diocese of Port-Louis announces the death of Father Robert Fleurot this Saturday, July 2, 2022 at the age of 79, in the 52nd year of his ordination. Robert Fleurot was ordained a priest at the age of 26 by Mgr Jean Margéot on August 17, 1969, at the same time as Denis Wiehe. Robert Fleurot went to his primary school at the Lorette de Vacoas convent and his secondary school at the College of the Holy Spirit. During his 52 years in the service of the Diocese of Port-Louis, he served many parishes, including Rivière-du-Rempart, Curepipe, Port-louis, Rose-Hill, Beau-Bassin and Roche Bois. Robert Fleurot was also very engaged in the Christian Worker Youth and was Caritas inter-island coordinator. He had also published a study on fishermen in Mauritius. Robert Fleurot visited Rodrigues several times, where he was appointed curator of the parish of Notre-Dame-de-Br Flé. He ministered at St Gabriel.
