Athletics: Noa Bibi Erases Stephan Buckland’s 100m National Record

Must Read

He had asserted his claims during the final of the last African championships held in Mauritius last June by coming within one hundredth of Stephan Buckland’s 100m national record with the help of a wind of +4.5m/s.

But this Sunday during the meeting of Epinal in France he did not miss the boat by winning the race with a ten meter lead in the time of 10.12 secs. A time synonymous of national record but unofficial all the same because it is necessary to wait for its ratification by the Mauritian Association of Athletics.

On July 21, 2001, during the Games of the Francophonie in Ottawa, Canada, Stephan Buckland had realized 10.13 sec (wind +0.7m/s) and on April 21, 2002 during the Meeting of Mauritius he had equalled his own national record with a wind of -1.3m/s.

With his participation in the next World Athletics Championships on July 15 in the United States, Noa Bibi will have another opportunity to improve his own national record in the 100m.
