Our vaccination programme is finally recognised by the British authorities after a month long of negotiations, namely for Astra Zeneca, Johnson and Johnson, Pfizer and Moderna. Those inoculated with Covaxin, Sinopharm and Sputnik V will have to go through a booster shot other than the previous two doses.
The official statement was issued on Monday morning. Thus, Mauritians who want to fly to the United Kingdom no longer have to worry about the quarantine imposed until now. Those whose Astra Zeneca, Johnson and Johnson, Pfizer and Moderna vaccines are less than 14 days old before their trip will not have to go through this fateful and expensive box. On the other hand, as stated in the official communiqué, those who have been administered by Sinopharm and Sputnik V are not accepted as “fully vaccinated” and will have to get a booster shot of the authorised vaccines at least 14 days before flying.
The vaccine mix is permitted and is currently done at the International Vaccination Centre at the Mutual Aid Building in Port Louis. The vaccination campaign for Johnson and Johnson is still open.
