Mathieu Dacruz has been chosen to represent Mauritius at the international summit, Youth4Climate, which will take place from September 28 to 30 in Italy. A student of the Collège du Saint-Esprit, he was chosen by the office of the UN Secretary General’s Envoy on Youth from among 8,700 applicants.
The Youth4Climate international meeting, scheduled for September 28-30, is a prologue to the 26th Conference of the Parties (COP 26), to be held November 1-12 in Glasgow, England.
The latter met yesterday with the Minister of Agro-Industry and Food Security, Maneesh Gobin, at his office. The meeting was focused on the issues and prospects of the agribusiness sector.
Mathieu Dacruz, who is also one of the founders of a national network of high school students called NAFCO (National Forum for Colleges), was accompanied by three fellow students, including Corentin Antony, Teejvin Woodun and Aneesh Reesaul, during his meeting with Minister Gobin.
In a statement after the meeting, Minister Maneesh Gobin said he was pleased to see the enthusiasm of young people for agriculture, livestock and nature.
Mathieu Dacruz said that his meeting with the minister was fruitful because it allowed him to learn about what is happening in Mauritius in the field of agriculture.
