The impact of the collision between a BMW and a Yamaha motorcycle was so violent that the 21-year-old motorcyclist was thrown to the asphalt on Route Royale in 8th Mile, Triolet. This happened on the evening of Saturday, October 28. Severely injured, local motorcyclist Muhammad Ameer Allymamod was rushed to the Hôpital du Nord by a Service d’Aide Médicale d’Urgence (Samu) ambulance. Unfortunately, he succumbed to his injuries half an hour later. The autopsy attributed his death to multiple injuries. To date, the number of deaths on our roads is 112.
It was around 9:30 pm on Saturday evening, October 28, when this accident occurred on Route Royale in 8th Mile, Triolet, near the PKL store. A motorcycle driven by Ameer Allymamod collided with a BMW driven by a 34-year-old French woman. She works as a beautician and lives in the village of Petit Raffray.
The motorcyclist was seriously injured. He was taken by ambulance to the northern hospital. Unfortunately, he succumbed to his injuries. His body was then taken to the morgue of the Dr A.G.Jeetoo Hospital, Port Louis, for an autopsy. The autopsy, carried out by Dr Prem Chamane, Principal Police Medical Officer, attributed the death to multiple injuries.
On the same day, the driver was brought before the Bail and Remand Court (BRC) in Port-Louis on a provisional charge of manslaughter. She was allowed to leave on bail of 25,000 and an IOU of Rs 75,000. The court also imposed the condition that she report to Goodlands police station every Monday.
On Monday October 30, she was brought before the Pamplemousses court to complete the formalities for her release on bail.
Ameer Allymamod’s funeral took place on Sunday October 29 at 1:30 pm. He was buried in the Bois Marchand cemetery in Terre Rouge.
