Shortly after 10 pm on Monday evening, April 17, police officers of Adsu of Grand Bay raided the house of Tulsisham Ujoodha, a 33-year-old greengrocer at Solitude. The raid resulted in the discovery of a total of 105.73 grams of synthetic drugs and the sum of Rs 2600 suspected to come from the sale of this drug. The market value of this drug is Rs 528 650.
The information obtained on this vegetable dealer turned out to be true. After hours of surveillance these Adsu police officers led by Sergeant Sham landed at his home. This exercise was successful during a search in his kitchen. A transparent plastic containing 104.20 grams of synthetic drug and another plastic in which there were twenty-eight doses of synthetic drug, 1.53 grams that were hidden under a refrigerator. A sum of 2600 in different denominations was also seized. Adsu suspects that this money came from the sale of this drug. Tulsisham Ujoodha was arrested and placed in a cell at the police station of Rivière du Rempart.
In addition, the same team arrested around 19:15 on the same day, an 18-year-old driver’s helper at his home in Fond du Sac. The search of his house by Adsu police officers led to the discovery of a plastic bag with a piece of black adhesive tape enveloping twenty-eight doses of synthetic drugs, weighing 4.4 grams and a sum of Rs 2800. This money would come from the sale of the drugs.
The two suspects arrested by this Adsu team were brought before the court of Pamplemousses on the morning of Tuesday 18 April. They were charged with a provisional accusation of drug trafficking. They were returned to detention.
