If these two teenagers are still alive, it is thanks to the intervention of the policewoman, Numa, assigned to the brigade for the protection of the family of the Metropolitan Police of the South division. This policewoman was going to make a walk on the morning of Friday, February 10 in Dauguet, Tranquebar when she spotted two young people lying on the ground with a bad look. When questioned, the 15 year old girl and her boyfriend of the same age confided to her that they had absorbed caustic soda. The officer immediately alerted the Metropolitan Police South Division Operations’ Room. An ambulance from the Emergency Medical Service (SAMU) was subsequently dispatched to this location to transport the two teenagers to the Dr. A.G. Jeetoo Hospital, Port Louis. They were admitted in a room of the intensive care unit.
It was around 6:40 am on Friday, February 10th that policewoman Numa discovered the bodies of these two young people lying on the ground. She approached them, and it was then that they confided to the police officer that they had absorbed a certain amount of caustic soda. The two youths were reported missing to the Pope Hennessy Police Station by their respective mothers shortly after 9:30 p.m. on Wednesday evening, February 8.
The teenager, who lives in the Tranquebar area, attends a private college in the capital. In this same institution, she had met her boyfriend, who lives near Plaine-Verte. The teenager stopped his schooling in November 2022.
The two young people would have committed this act because their parents were going to oppose their possible union. On the afternoon of Wednesday, February 8, after school, the teenager went to join her boyfriend after changing his uniform. Both of them did not return home, and so their mothers reported a case of “missing” in the evening of the same day.
Although unconscious, the teenager was very agitated. She was placed in a surgical ward in the intensive care unit. Her boyfriend was placed in a medical room in the ICU. The condition of both youths is considered to be very serious.
