The Family Protection Brigade has registered three complaints of sexual abuse from three minors, aged 8, 10 and 17 respectively. The two girls, who live in a village in the Flacq area, reported their 13-year-old cousin, while the 17-year-old from Cité Vallijee told how she was sexually abused by her stepfather.
It was in the late afternoon of Thursday, November 17, that the statements of these three victims were recorded by two police officers from the Family Protection Squad based at Flacq and Abercrombie Police Station, St. Croix respectively.
The 8-year-old girl said she was at home on November 4 when her 13-year-old cousin kissed her on the mouth. On another Friday this year, her cousin kissed her again and tried to fondle her private area but she stopped him. The older sister, who is 10 years old, also reported the same cousin, who had kissed her on the mouth several times.
The teenager, who lives in Cité Vallijee, recounted, in the presence of her mother, how in 2019, when they were living in the Vallée des Prêtres area, her stepfather, a 46-year-old bricklayer, had fondled her private part on her clothes. In 2020, on two occasions and on Saturday, 5 November last, her father-in-law had sexual intercourse with her without her consent. The first person she confided in was her aunt, who lives in Cité Vallijee. An investigation was initiated in both cases.
