The Tourist Contract Bus Owners Association (TCBOA) is asking the Prime Minister, Pravind Jugnauth, to intervene on their behalf so that they can reimburse the leasing company with which they bought some twenty vans.
If by next week, they do not repay the said company, their vehicles will be seized. This was stated by Manohar Bhavish, secretary of the TCBOA, at a press conference in Port Louis.
He also said that he had already formulated a proposal in a letter that was addressed to the head of government. This one underlines that “We implore once again your help to grant us a loan of Rs 200 000/-t to Rs 400 000/-, with a moratorium of 18 months for the repayment, so that our vehicles are not seized. Our vehicles are our only source of income to meet our household obligations and to cover the cost of repayment of our loans,” said the secretary of the association.
He justifies the step of the association by the fact that since the closure of the borders, they are not working and moreover they are not allowed to transport other types of passengers. except tourists. If the government does not accede to their requests, he warns that a demonstration could be organized in the streets of the capital.
