A 29-year-old businessman living in the village of d’Epinay, Pamplemousses, has reported a break-in at his warehouse. Several kilos of fish and seafood were taken. The total value is estimated at Rs 175,000. He suspects that one of his relatives was behind the theft. The latter was questioned at length on Thursday July 6. He denied any wrongdoing.
The young businessman went to the Montagne Longue police station on the afternoon of Thursday July 6 to report a break-in at his warehouse in d’Epinay, Pamplemousses. According to his version, the theft took place between 8 p.m. on Wednesday July 5 and 11 a.m. on Thursday July 6. The thief gained access to the interior of his warehouse by forcing open the main door.
He left with 2,000 Kendo brand burgers, ten kilos of squid, fifteen kilos of sea bream and ten bags of shrimp, all worth Rs 175,000. In his complaint, he said he suspected one of his cousins of being the perpetrator of the theft. The latter was arrested by members of the Criminal Investigation Division in Terre-Rouge. Under close interrogation, the young man denied any involvement in the theft. A search of his home turned up nothing. He was allowed to return home after this exercise.
