The brigade for the protection of the family is investigating the case of a 14-year-old girl who had a miscarriage at the North Hospital on Tuesday, February 8. It was at the police station of Bain des Dames that a police officer recorded a statement regarding a case of sexual relations with a minor. The teenager, who is in grade 9 in a private school, lives in a suburb of the capital. The minor recounted the circumstances in which she became pregnant after having sex with her 17-year-old boyfriend.
It was in the presence of her mother, 33, who lives in a coastal village in the North that her statement was made in the afternoon of Tuesday, February 15. In August 2021, after leaving college, her boyfriend, who works as a helper in a store in Port-Louis, took her to his home somewhere in the Cassis area. They went to a bathroom where they had sex for the first time.
On February 3, as she was suffering from stomach pains, her mother took her to the North Hospital. The doctor, who examined her, revealed to her mother that she is 22 weeks pregnant. On Tuesday, February 8, she had a miscarriage at the North Hospital where she was admitted. She had her discharge during the day on Tuesday, February 15.
The teenager wanted to be examined by a medical examiner. She told the police officer that she will be able to lead the officers to the house where she had sex and that she can identify her boyfriend, having a yellow platinum tooth. The Child Development Unit has also been notified of this case.
The suspect is being actively sought by officers from the Bain des Dames Police Station.
