A 19-year-old student living in the St. Croix area has filed a domestic violence complaint against her boyfriend, a 28-year-old teacher at a private college in the capital city that she attends. They started living together only two months ago. It is a message she received on her cell phone that would be at the origin of her aggression. The teacher was arrested during the day on Tuesday, January 17, and will be brought before the court of Port-Louis this Wednesday morning, January 17.
It was in the early evening of Monday, January 16, around 19 hours that she went to the police station of Abercrombie, St. Croix to make her statement for domestic violence. The teenager explained in great detail her romantic relationship with her teacher. For the past two months they have been living together.
On the morning of Monday, January 16, around 7 o’clock, she said she received a message on her phone an Iphone 11 Pro Max. Vexed, her lover had to take this phone before throwing it to the ground. Her phone was damaged. Her teacher lover then had to shove her with both hands and she fell on the washing machine.
The teenager said she was in pain. The young man then went into the living room. A few minutes later, the young woman said she went to him to tell him of her decision to break off her relationship with him. The teacher then began to strangle her with his right hand. To free herself, she tried to push him away, but then the teacher bit her on the upper left hand. This bite, she said, left her with a blood clot.
A neighbor who heard the argument came to her house to separate them. Before leaving her home, the young woman told the police that the teacher gave her the sum of Rs 13,000 to repair her phone.
