This 19-year-old student cold-bloodedly inflicted several blows with a box cutter on a 21-year-old man. This scene of violence took place in broad daylight on the Royal Road in Palmar on Sunday, October 10. A food vendor who was in his trailer on the coastal road in his vehicle had witnessed this assault. With the help of volunteers, he assisted the victim who lives in Camp Marcelin, Flacq.
The suspect, who resides in Palmar, was arrested on Friday, November 5. He is facing a provisional charge of assault with premeditation. The same day, he was brought before the court of Flacq and was later released on bail.
It was around 5:45 p.m. on Sunday, October 10. A 42-year-old peddler was working in his roulette when he witnessed a violent argument between two youths on the side of Royal Road in Palmar. At one point one of the two had pulled out a box cutter to inflict several blows on the other. While the victim was writhing in pain and bleeding profusely, his aggressor had to get on a bicycle to escape.
The peddler had to ask for help from passers-by to assist the victim. In the meantime, a team of police officers from the Trou d’Eau Douce police station had arrived on the scene. The injured 21-year-old was evacuated to the hospital in Flacq. He was admitted to the ward after receiving the necessary treatment. The injured person has already left the hospital.
An investigation has been initiated to shed light on the circumstances of this attack.
