A 61-year-old woman, resident of Cité La Cure, was admitted to the Dr. A.G. Jeetoo Hospital, Port-Louis in the afternoon of Sunday, July 10, following a stabbing attack, which was inflicted on her by her 33 year old son, who is a drug addict. The 60-year-old woman suffered injuries to her eyebrow, hand and various parts of her body. Her son was arrested shortly afterwards.
It was shortly before 12:30 p.m. on Sunday, July 10, that the assault occurred following an argument with her son about money. The latter threatened him with a knife before inflicting several blows to his body. The Abercrombie, St. Croix Police Station was alerted and a team was dispatched to the scene. In the meantime, an ambulance from Emergency Medical Services responded to the scene to evacuate the injured victim to the hospital.
The victim was unable to give a statement as she was under medical treatment and dazed. The suspect was arrested on a provisional charge of domestic violence. After spending the night in a cell at the Plaine-Verte police station, he was brought before the Port Louis court on Monday morning, July 11th.
