A rented house, transformed into a clandestine laboratory for the manufacture of synthetic drugs, was searched during the morning of Sunday, April 10 at La Tour Koenig, Pointe aux Sables. Its owner, Moïse Ryan Ramchurn, alias Moins Vingt, a 25 year old photographer was arrested, after 2 plastic bags containing 588 grams of synthetic drug and all the equipment used to prepare this drug were seized. The market value of the seized drugs is Rs 2 940 000. When questioned as to the presence of all these seized items, the suspect stated “mo served his po prepar la drog sintetik”. Little did these ADSU officers know that they were about to stumble upon a drug lab in this photographer’s home.
Ryan Ramchurn Ramchurn, who is facing a provisional charge of drug trafficking, was brought before the Bamboo court this Monday morning, April 11. He was taken back to the police cell.
A team from the Metropolitan Division’s Anti-Drug and Smuggling Unit (ADSU), led by Sergeant Mohun, arrived at the home of Ryan Ramchurn Ramchurn on Route Royale in La Tour Koenig with a search warrant. A search of the home was to yield nothing. The officers later learned that the young man also occupies a second floor apartment in the same area. He did not want to lead the police to this apartment. With a set of keys found at his place, the police officers were able to access his apartment.
During the search, these policemen were to find on a table a make-up case, in which there were 2 plastic bags containing synthetic drugs, that is 588 grams. This make-up case was closed with a combination lock that a police officer had to force to open because the suspect said “monn bliye code la”. Several paraphernalia, including electronic scales, spoons, bowls, two braids containing a quantity of liquid, were seized.
