An operation by elements of the Anti-Drug and Smuggling Unit (Adsu) of the Central Division carried out in the afternoon of Thursday 29 December resulted in the uprooting of six hundred and twenty-seven cannabis plants in a forest at 16th Mile, Forest-Side. The market value of these plants is Rs 2 508 000.
It is on the basis of certain information that this team of Adsu led by the inspector Balambha carried out a search in this place after these plants were spotted by the helicopter of the police. A total of six hundred and twenty-seven plants measuring between forty centimeters and one meter ten were uprooted. These plants were then transported to the headquarters of Adsu in the Central Barracks.
An investigation was initiated to trace the alleged cultivator of these plants.
