Tragic end for Woman Constable, Gaonjur Rookminee. The 47-year-old resident of Baie-du-Tombeau was killed in a road accident that occurred in the early hours of this Tuesday at Riche-Terre. It seems the policewoman who is posted at Abercombie Police Station was called to do extra works because of the unrest in Vallee pitot. After work, she acted a lift from the son of a colleague who was going home. And then the tragic accident occurred.
The car she was in, driven by a 26-year-old Verdun resident, crashed into a pylon. The driver’s father, a 59-year-old police officer, was also in the car. Father and son were injured and taken to the northern hospital and Dr. Jeetoo Hospital respectively. The police officer did not survive her injuries. The driver tested negative for alcohol. The victim was supposed to get out of the vehicle at the Terre-Rouge intersection where her husband was waiting for her. But she never arrived at her destination.
