Senior District Magistrate, R. Hardowar has granted bail to a presumed gang murderer, Emmanuel Albert against a surety of Rs 200,000. Mr Albert is among six persons arrested in relation with a gang murder that occurred last February during a fight. According to the police, Mr Albert was partaking in alcoholic drinks with five friends when an unknown man took one glass from them and drink their liquor. One of his friends hit the man who fell unconscious. But the matter became worst when Mr Albert and his friends transported the unconscious man to a nearby forest, beat him severely and left him dead.
The police has been objecting to the release on bail of Mr Albert. The main reasons were that Albert could abscond or interfere with witnesses.
But the court considered that the accused has a wife and two children and a fixed place of residence and thus, he would be unlikely to breach the rules of his conditional freedom. Therefore, he was granted bail.
